Laser beam welding of sheet (2) exhibiting a thickness of 0.08-1.2mm, comprises arranging butt joint edges of the sheet to be welded, which are adjacent to each other, in a impact distance, and fusing by a focused laser beam (7), which produces a uniform weld seam without height offset, where the impact distance is 0.04-0.08 mm. The ratio between the impact distance and the thickness is less than 60:100, and falls with increasing thickness of 5:100. An independent claim is also included for a device (1) for laser beam welding of the sheet comprising (a) clamping bars between which the sheet is held during the welding, so that the edges to be welded together are in a defined impact distance of 0.05-0.07 mm opposite to each other, (b) a laser beam welding device located on one side of the sheet to be welded together, and (c) the roller pair located on the opposite side of the laser beam welding device and is designed so that the sheet to be pressed against the clamping bars are located on the side of the laser beam welding device. |
