<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that allows data exceeding an upper limit to be communicated while suppressing a change of hardware to a small change in communication between devices in which an upper limit is set to an amount of data capable of being communicated at a time. <P>SOLUTION: When transmitting data of which an amount exceeds an upper limit, a transmission device divides the data into previous data and following data within a range not exceeding at least the upper limit and transmits a following data instruction code indicating the presence of the following data together with the previous data. When receiving the following data instruction code together with the previous data, a receiver requests transmission of the following data based on the following data instruction code.
