PURPOSE: An energy storage device of an urban railway using a bidirectional DC to DC converter is provided to simply add a storage unit composed of super capacitors as a box type module according to the addition or change of capacity. CONSTITUTION: An analog interface board(34) receives a DC link current and charging and discharging currents of a super capacitor. A signal recognizing board(36) performs a driving sequence and protection operation of a control unit. A signal control board(38) performs protection and communication operations. A digital output contact part(46) outputs receives a signal from the signal control board and outputs a contact signal. A PWM control board(40) receives each signal from the analog interface board and the signal control board and controls a PWM pulse signal. An optical output board(42) converts the corresponding PWM pulse signal into an optical signal. An external gate driver(44) generates an external gate driving signal.
