[Problem] Provided is a thermal-transfer printer capable of minimizing temperature increases inside a ribbon cassette for accommodating an ink ribbon. [Solution] A thermal-transfer printer having a ribbon cassette (11) for housing an ink ribbon (111), and a thermal head (21), the thermal-transfer printer printing by the thermal transfer of the ink ribbon (111) to a paper sheet (S) by the thermal head (21), wherein the thermal-transfer printer has an airflow generation mechanism (115) for generating an airflow, and a control means (10) for controlling the generation of airflow by the airflow generation mechanism (115). The ribbon cassette (11) is provided with an airflow passage (113) in which at least part of the thermal head (21) is disposed, and the airflow generation mechanism (115) is disposed so that the generated airflow passes through the airflow passage (113) of the ribbon cassette (11).
