HEPATITIS C VIRUS REPLICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved in vitro cell culture system capable of supporting an HCV full-genome replication and capable of producing a virus particle.

SOLUTION: This hepatitis C virus replication system provides a cell including: (a) the hepatitis C virus genome and/or a nucleic acid encoding the hepatitis C virus genome; and (b) a nucleic acid encoding one or both of the hepatitis C virus protein E1 and E2. The hepatitis C virus replication system also provides a cell (a) wherein the hepatitis C virus is replicated, and (b) wherein the hepatitis C virus protein E1 and/or E2 is expressed in addition to the E1 protein and/or the E2 protein expressed as the result of a hepatitis C virus life cycle.
