PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high speed rewriting according to states of other pixels in 2T1C type pixels.

SOLUTION: This driving method has a step for determining which condition is satisfied out of a plurality of conditions including: a first condition constituted only of first type pixels in which a plurality of pixels switches optical states from second optical states to first optical states based on data stored in a memory that stores data indicating the optical states of the plurality of pixels and third type pixels do not switch the optical states; a second condition constituted only of second type pixels switch the optical states from the first optical states to second optical states and the third type pixels; and a third condition in which the first type pixels and the second type pixels are mixed.
