The internal combustion engine has a bearing bolt (26) that is fixed at the housing (22) of engine. An intermediate gear (18) is rotatably mounted on the cylindrical seat portion (28) of bearing bolt and is displaced along the radial direction of housing. A threaded element is screwed into the external thread (36) of bearing bolt. The intermediate gear connects the gear (10) of crankshaft with the gear (20) of balancing shaft. An independent claim is included for method for assembling internal combustion engine.
