<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate lighter (low density) particles, compared with other types of particles, from a mixture of a plurality of types of particles. <P>SOLUTION: A process for separating the light particles from the mixture of the light particles and heavier particles includes (a) a step of collecting the mixture, and (b) a step of separating the heavier particles from the mixture with a separating apparatus. The separating apparatus used when the heavier particles are separated from the mixture includes a cyclone separator covering a receiving vessel, a pressurized ring attached to the cyclone separator, and a tunnel formed along an inner circumference of the pressurized ring so that the inside of the tunnel becomes an annular plenum, and communicating with the pressurized ring through a slit formed on an outer circumference of the tunnel, wherein the action of pressurized air entering the annular plenum from the pressurized ring through the slit separates the flow in the plenum into a light particle flow along an inner wall surface closer to the center of the plenum and a heavier particle flow along the inner wall surface closer to the outer circumference so that the heavier particles enter the receiving vessel, thereby the light particles are separated from the mixture. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
