<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time and effort required for setting restriction of access to image data. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus acquires access restriction information set for a designated storage location (S102), and determines whether to set at least one of a read-write password and a read only password for image data on the basis of the access restriction information (S104). If it determines to set one, the apparatus sets the password for the image data (S105), and stores the image data in the storage location (S107).
