<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix type display device in which electrodes are certainly and stably connected by low connection resistances. <P>SOLUTION: An active matrix type display device has; a first substrate; a thin-film transistor formed on one main surface of the first substrate; a second substrate; and a display element formed on one main surface of the second substrate. The first substrate and the second substrate are bonded so as to oppose the main surface of the first substrate and the main surface of the second substrate. A contact spacer which connects a first electrode of one of a source electrode and a drain electrode of the thin-film transistor, and a lower electrode of one of an anode electrode and a cathode electrode of the display element and keeps an interval between the first substrate and the second substrate is provided at one of the first substrate and the second substrate. The other of the first substrate and the second substrate has a contact hole opposing to the contact spacer.
