<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing excellent-quality alkenyl mercaptane in good yield. <P>SOLUTION: A mixture in which an alkali hydrosulfide hydrate having a content of an alkali hydrosulfide of 50 wt.% and containing 5.0 to 10.0 wt.% of an alkali sulfide with respect to the alkali hydrosulfide, an alkenyl halide (1), and ≥0.5 pts.wt of disulfide (3) with respect to 100 pts.wt of the total of the alkenyl halide (1) and an alkenyl mercaptane (2) are contained is caused to react under a gas atmosphere of an oxygen concentration of ≤5 vol% under stirring by a stirring power per unit volume of the mixture of 0.15 to 6 kW/m<SP POS="POST">3</SP>.
