The data carrier (1) has an antenna coil (2) with an interior region (5). A damping layer (20) made of material having relative permeability of 5 and resistivity of 1-10omega , is formed vertical to antenna coil axis, above or below the antenna coil, to cover the antenna coil. A recess (21) is formed in the antenna coil and enclosed by the interior region. An extending portion of the damping layer is formed parallel to the antenna coil axis, around the interior region, so as to span planar surface above the interior region to allow personalization of data carrier.
