The ink collecting device has an ink collecting container (C1), which collects ink ejected from a nozzle of inkjet head (H111 to H114). A holding element is provided for holding the ink collecting container such that it moved the ink collecting container horizontally. The holding element moves the ink collecting container horizontally to three positions, particularly to a standby position (r), to an ink collecting position and to a maintenance position. The ink collecting container avoids interference with the printing of the inkjet head on a print medium at the standby position.
