The startup circuit (A) has coil (L1) through which a starting current (IA) flows in order to effect a start of alternating current (AC) motor. The flow of starting current is interrupted or switched off through switching element (U1). The switching state of switching element is determined by trigger current or trigger voltage, where the switching state is dependent on the tilting state of flip-flop (K) such as monostable multivibrator. The switching current (IS) or switching voltage is flowed to switching element.
