<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that can suppress the influence by a take-up machine to a printer without adding parts and can stabilize the printing quality. <P>SOLUTION: A control device 30 obtains the winding diameter of paper in the take-up machine 20 from the rotation of the take-up machine 20 detected by a rotation detection sensor 21 based on the amount of the paper supply for each one revolution. Since the rate of rise of take-up machine 20 quickens when the winding diameter of the take-up machine 20 is small, the sending off acceleration of the paper is made higher when driving a thermal printer part 10.
