<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable output of a journal with the same content as a receipt without allowing increase in the data volume required for outputting the receipt and journal. <P>SOLUTION: A host 1 generates the output data of a receipt including, as output content, character data indicating the details of a sold commercial product, an image such as a logo, a barcode and the like. The character data indicating the details of an object to be output as a journal has font information indicating the usage of a specific font added when being output.
