<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact power unit for a vehicle including a main transmission mechanism having a crankcase supporting a crankshaft and a plurality of gear trains provided between a main shaft and a counter shaft rotatably supported in the crankcase and selectively establishable by shifters; and an auxiliary transmission mechanism having an output shaft rotatably supported in the crankcase and receiving the power transmitted from the main transmission mechanism and a plurality of gear trains provided between an extended part of the counter shaft and the output shaft and selectively establishable by the shifters. <P>SOLUTION: In the auxiliary transmission mechanism, the shifters cannot be directly engaged therewith due to a small outer diameter of a gear of the counter shaft, and a separated part to be engaged is traditionally set on an extended part of the counter shaft. In the present invention, a conventional separated part to be engaged is deleted and the shifters are directly engaged with the gear of the output shaft, making the power unit for a vehicle compact. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
