A portable device having a rear surface touch panel (5) which is disposed on the surface opposite the installation surface of a display pane (2) comprises: a state assessment means (32) for assessing that a position designation state applies when a state is detected wherein a finger is in contact with the rear surface touch panel (5) continuously for greater than or equal to a prescribed time; a cursor display means (33) for displaying a cursor on the display unit (2) said cursor reflecting the position of the finger which moves in contact with the rear surface touch panel (5) while in the position designation state; a provisionally determined position storage means (34) for storing the position of the cursor when the finger in the position designation state is removed from the rear surface touch panel (5) as a provisionally determined position; and an input determination means (36) for making a definite determination of an input of the provisionally determined position which is stored in the provisionally determined position storage means (34) on the basis of a click operation on the rear surface touch panel (5).
