The centrifugal pump has a pump shaft that is passed through the hole of a cutting plate (2). A knife forming cutting head portion (1) and cutting plate are combined to form a preassembled unit. The cutting head portion is positively connected with a shaft element (3) of pump shaft. A wear-resistant layer (5) of the cutting head portion is made of wear-resistant plastic and/or amorphous carbon such as diamond-like carbon.
