The device (1) has a transport unit (2) which transports the plastic performs along a predetermined transport path (P). The transport unit has two guide elements (12,14) that support the plastic preforms. The plastic preforms are guided between the guide elements. The device also has a control body (20) movable by a movement of the plastic preforms. The control body is arranged with a portion of the guide elements opposite to a position relative to and movable to the moving plastic preforms in contact. A discharge unit is provided for discharging individual plastic preforms. An independent claim is also included for a method for transporting plastic preforms.
