The present invention pertains to a waterless urinal drain system. A plug (2) moves upwards (39) by a pushing force created between magnetic elements on the plug and a moveable shaft, thus allowing the fluid from the inlet opening (33) to pass to the drainage pipe (10). Upon the cessation of fluid entry from the inlet opening (33) the plug (2) is closed again by the interaction of the magnetic elements and the emittance of the unpleasant odor from the drainage pipe (10) is blocked. A capacitive sensor (34) detects fluid input to the urinal and a drive moves the shaft (38) such that the polarity of the magnetic elements on the shaft facing the magnetic element on the plug changes.
