OPTICAL FILM, RETARDATION FILM, POLARIZING PLATE AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film that solves problems on unevenness of light and unevenness of haze.

SOLUTION: The optical film contains an additive, a wax component and a cellulose ester, in which a total content (Ct with a unit of mass%) of the additive, film thickness (d with a unit of μm) and a difference (ΔC=Ct-Cs) between a surface content (Cs with a unit of mass%) of the additive and the total content (Ct) of the additive satisfy formula (1): ¾ΔC/Ct¾≥0.1×(Ct/d-0.3) and formula (2): Ct/d≥0.375. In the formulae, Cs=(mass of the additive included in a region from the surface of the optical film to 3 μm depth in a thickness direction)/(mass of the cellulose ester included in a region from the surface of the optical film to 3 μm depth in the thickness direction)×100; and Ct=(whole mass of the additive included in the whole optical film)/(whole mass of the cellulose ester included in the whole optical film)×100.
