The invention relates to a method for the offline configuration of a field device (1.2) having an integrated web server (2.2) of a prescribed field device type which is intended to be used at a process location in a process installation (3) in automation engineering but, at the time (t1) at which the device configuration is created, is not yet mounted in the process installation (3) or incorporated in the process installation for communication purposes, wherein a service provider physically provides field devices (1.1', 1.2',...) of different field device types having integrated web servers (2.1', 2.2',...), wherein a customer uses the internet (4) to set up a connection to the respective field device type (1.1', 1.2',...) which corresponds to the field device (1.2, 1.2,...) to be configured, wherein the field device (1.1', 1.2',...) of the prescribed field device type is configured via the internet (4) such that it satisfies the requirements for use at the appropriate process location in the process installation (3), wherein following the conclusion of the offline configuration the device configuration data are held available such that the customer has access to the device configuration data, and wherein in the event of later mounting of the field device (1.2, 1.2,...) at the process location in the process installation (3) the device configuration data generated offline can be made available to the field device (1.2, 1.2,...). |
