摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detection device which is excellent in durability for automatically detecting double tires or the number of axles without making it necessary to externally install any mechanism for measuring vehicle passage. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle detection device includes: a plurality of distance sensors arrayed with predetermined intervals in the width direction of a road which a vehicle passes on the road surface of the pertinent road, and configured to, when the vehicle passes, acquire the tires of the vehicle and distance information showing its distance to the vehicle body; first determination means configured to determine whether an object which has passed on the plurality of distance sensors is a vehicle body or a tire on the basis of the distance information to be acquired from each of those distance sensors; and second determination means configured to, when it is determined that the object which has passed on the plurality of distance sensors is the tire by the first determination means, calculate the number of tires on the basis of the result of determination, and to determine whether or not the vehicle has double tires. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
