<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear drive device which can suppress induced current generated due to structures of a stator and a housing and enables positioning of the stator in the housing by a simple configuration, and a method of manufacturing the linear drive device. <P>SOLUTION: Abutment projections 112a projecting at ends of plate parts 112 of stator tooth parts 114 abut on opening end faces 25 of a housing 2. With the abutment projections 112a abutting on the opening end faces 25, tooth parts 111 are inserted into the housing 2 via an opening 23. As shown in Figures 3 and 4, while abutting on the opening end faces 25, the abutment projections 112a are positioned in positioning projections 26 of the housing 2. Thus, this can suppress generation of induced current in a path formed by the opening end faces 25 of the housing 2, the positioning projections 26, and a stator core 11.
