<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of accurately correcting axial chromatic aberration without discoloration or color omission. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing device comprises: image smoothing means for smoothing a target image having the pixel values of a plurality of color components with a plurality of different smoothing degrees, thereby generating a plurality of smoothed images; calculation means for obtaining, for each of the smoothed images, the color difference that is the difference between the pixel value of a predetermined color component of the target image at each pixel position in the target image and the pixel value of a color component of each of the smoothed images, the color component being different from the predetermined color component, and calculating the variance of the obtained color difference corresponding to the smoothing degree; discrimination means for discriminating whether each pixel position is a color boundary, on the basis of the variance of the color difference; determination means which while the pixel at a pixel position determined to be a false by the discrimination of the color boundary is set to be a target pixel, compares the sharpness of the respective color components of the target image with each other on the basis of the variance of the color difference and determines the color component having the highest sharpness; and an adjustment means for adjusting the sharpness of at least one color component of the target image on the basis of the color component having the highest sharpness. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
