<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal transmission system, a signal transmission method, a transmitter, and a receiver capable of transmitting a DVI signal and a control signal via one network cable. <P>SOLUTION: A transmitter 1 performs frequency modulation of a control signal, and multiplexes the frequency-modulated control signal to a DVI signal transmitted via a Cat5 cable 4. A receiver demultiplexes the multiplexed DVI signal to obtain the frequency-modulated control signal, and demodulates the obtained control signal.
