<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert a color image into a monochrome image by which a difference of colors on the color image can be recognized. <P>SOLUTION: A natural image extraction unit 14 separates a color image of a processing target into a natural image area and an area other than the natural image area. A natural image monochromating unit 22 performs monochromating processing of the natural image area. On the other hand, a color group division unit 16 divides color distribution for each pixel of the image area other than the natural image area into a plurality of groups. A representative color calculation unit 18 calculates a representative color for each individual group. A conversion unit 20 decides a concentration to be allocated to the individual group, and converts color information of each pixel of the image area other than the natural image area into concentration information allocated to the group including each pixel to obtain monochrome image data. The monochrome image data outputted from the natural image monochromating unit 22 and the conversion unit 20 are composed at an image composition unit 24 as a single monochrome image, and the single monochrome image is outputted to a printing device or the like at an image output section 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
