The present invention relates to a device and method for determining abnormality of a front/rear acceleration sensor used to detect the front/rear acceleration of a vehicle for vehicle driving control. According to the present invention, the front/rear acceleration of the vehicle detected by the front/rear acceleration sensor is calculated as an integrated value, and whether the front/rear acceleration sensor is abnormal is determined based on the integrated value and a vehicle speed obtained from the speeds of vehicle wheels. If the vehicle speed obtained from the speeds of the vehicle wheels is zero and a state in which an increase rate of the detected front/rear acceleration of the vehicle is equal to or lower than an increase rate reference value continues for a calculation start reference time period or longer, calculation of the integrated value is started.
