<p>A drive train apparatus, e.g. for a video camera pan and tilt head, comprises a belt drive 2 coupled to an electric motor 8 and having a pulley 6 fixed, via driveshaft 10, to a drive wheel 11 of a friction drive 3. The drive wheel 11 frictionally drives a slave wheel 12 which is driveably connected by a driveshaft 13 to a drive gear 14 of toothed drive stage 4. Drive gear 14 meshes with and drives slave gear 15 which drives a shaft 16 having an encoder device 18. An input shaft 7 attached to the motor 8 also has an encoder device 17. The drive train apparatus converts a torque applied to an input of each drive stage 2, 3, 4 into an increased torque at an output of each drive element 2, 3, 4, thereby providing a quiet high speed rotational velocity to shaft 16.</p> |
