An adapter 14 for insertion into a valve cup 20 of a gas cartridge 16 incorporating a valve boss 30 defining an axis, the adapter 14 including an arrangement for non-rotatable securement relative to the gas cartridge 16 about the axis and at least one lug 40 extending in an axial direction so as to be engagable in a corresponding formation on a gas appliance such as a stove or lantern. The adapter 14 may comprise a ring shaped body 36 portion to at least partially encircle the valve boss 30. The arrangement may by a mechanical arrangement, such as a frictionally engaging or interference fit, or may be an adhesive comprising a removable cover to cover the adhesive prior to securement to the cartridge. The arrangement may comprise at least one radially extending projection dimensioned so as to deform a wall of the valve portion upon its insertion, or may comprise a recess or aperture 38 on the adapter configured to receive a tooth 34 on the cartridge. A complimentary gas cartridge 16 for receiving the adapter 14 is also disclosed. |
