The production system has a machine tool and a pallet handling system that is provided for automatic loading of machine tool with workpiece. The pallet handling system has a storage unit associated with machine tool, and several shelf modules (20). The storage unit additionally includes a rotatable storage tower (40). The shelf modules of the storage unit are arranged in a round construction about an access region of machine tool.
