<p>A water supply system 100 comprises an evaporation station 110, the evaporation station comprising an air conduit and a spray evaporator coupled to a water inlet and to the air conduit. Humidified air from the spray evaporator is provided into the air conduit. The supply system also includes a condensation station 120 which receives the humidified air and which extracts water from the humidified air. A pipe 130, which is preferably a heat absorbing pipe, is coupled between the air conduit of the evaporation station and an inlet of the condensation station. Airflow is driven through the air conduit of the evaporation station to enhance the spray evaporation. A water purification or desalination system including the water supply system is also claimed. In another aspect, a method of desalinating or purifying water using the supply system comprises using solar energy or waste energy from a power station to provide heat to the humidified air in the pipe. The water provided to the evaporation station is seawater or polluted water. The condensation station is located on land at least 100m from the sea.</p> |
