PURPOSE: An image processing method and an image processing device are provided to obtain a display image with local contrast and details by adaptive tone mapping. CONSTITUTION: A radiance map providing unit(121) provides a radiance map. An image decomposing unit(123) decomposes a luminance value of the radiance map into a base layer and a detail layer. An adaptive weight generating unit(124) generates a weighted value. A dynamic range compressing unit(125) generates a compression luminance.
