A method of making a construction comprising a diamond body 12 joined to a carrier body 22, the method including disposing chromium adjacent a surface of diamond material comprised in the diamond body, and joining the diamond body to the carrier body by means of braze material 24, in an atmosphere containing oxygen. The braze material 24 may comprise nickel and/or chromium, and a pellet (10, figure 1) comprising the diamond body (12, figure 1), chromium layer (14, figure 1) and braze material (16, figure 1) may be provided. The diamond body 12 may comprise a diamond grain , and/or inter-bonded diamond grains and/or diamond grains dispersed in a matrix. The method may comprse combining a plurality of diamond grains with a brazing paste. Preferably, the construction is a tool such as a saw, grinding tool or drill, for example. |
