The receiving device receives satellite data and stores in a storage, where the receiving device receives ephemeris data and satellite-raw data for determining position of a motor vehicle and stores the ephemeris data and satellite-raw data for subsequent determination of absolute position of the motor vehicle. The satellite-raw data includes code phase, carrier phase, data bits and/or signal quality. The receiving device records and stores image data. An image data record includes the ephemeris data and satellite-raw data. An independent claim is also included for a method for receiving and processing satellite data.
