657,183. Sausage casings. KENNEDY, W.D. Feb. 7, 1949, No. 3367. [Class 28(ii)] Sausage casings 22 or like tubes are fed on to a cylindrical rod or core 10 from which they can be transferred to the filling nozzle of a sausage filling machine, the core having at its feeding-on end a pair of long thin spaced - apart fingers 14 to receive the tubular casing. The casing is then fed along on to the core proper by a pair of driven rollers 21 which engage the casing between the spaced fingers. The fingers are joined by an end arch 16 forming a hairpin-like end to the core 10. The feed rollers 21 are made of cork and are resiliently pressed toward each other by springs to grip the casing. The rollers may be opened by a diagonal like pivoted arm (30, Fig. 5, not shown), between their shafts and rocked by a handle 32 to press apart the roller shafts. |
