The arrangement has a metal ring (4) arranged on a pipe piece (3) and welded to the pipe piece in a mounted position. The ring rests on the pipe piece with a section including greater inner diameter and rests on a pipe (1) with a section including smaller inner diameter on a side of the piece facing an end face of the pipe. The section of the ring with the smaller inner diameter comprises an end face extending along a helical line corresponding to a course of turn of a thread of the pipe. The ring is welded at the face of the section to the face of the pipe. The pipe is a helically undulated pipe. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a connecting element at an end of a helically undulated pipe of metal in an arrangement.
