PURPOSE: A CCTV camera and a monitoring method thereof are provided to clearly monitor a subject using infrared LEDs which illuminates a surrounding portion of an image and infrared LEDs which illuminates the central portion of the image. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of infrared LEDs(121,122) are installed on a disc(123). A photographing device(131) converts an image transmitted from a lens system(111) into an analog signal. An image processing unit(141) converts the analog signal into a digital signal. An infrared LED control unit(151) receives output image data of the image processing unit. When a subject included in the image data is dark, the infrared LED control unit turns corresponding LEDs on.
