PURPOSE: A rode and lane detection system of an intelligent transportation system and a method thereof are provided to detect edge directionality, thereby improving reliability of characteristic information for lane detection. CONSTITUTION: A color space transformation block(200) transforms color information into an HSI(Hue Saturation Intensity) color space. A collar region split block(400) classifies a color space from the classified HSI color information. A road and lane characteristic extraction block(300) extracts a characteristic part such as an edge and horizontal vanishing line from the color information. A road and lane mode optimization block(500) optimizes a model of a lane region and road region. A memory block(600) saves the lane region and road region established before. |
