PURPOSE: A separator for improving penetration for electrolyte and an electrochemical device including the same are provided to improve wettability for electrolyte by including consecutive grooves, thereby shortening time taking for penetrating electrolyte. CONSTITUTION: A separator(100) comprises a porous substrate(10) and a porous coating layer(20) which includes a mixture including inorganic particles and binder polymer. The continuous or discontinuous pattern layers are formed on the porous coating layer. The continuous or discontinuous pattern layers are the continuous or discontinuous patterned grooves(30). The electrochemical device comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode and the separator placed between the positive and negative electrodes.
