PURPOSE: A battery consumption improving method of a mobile communication terminal and an apparatus thereof are provided to increase the efficiency of DRX(Discontinuous Reception) without being operated in active time in case of satisfying a specific condition. CONSTITUTION: A transceiver(1105) receives data and a predetermined control signal to a forward channel of the serving cell. The transceiver transmits data to a reverse channel. A controller(1110) receives an HARQ(Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest) ACK. The controller determines whether to satisfy a suspension limit condition. In case the terminal satisfies the suspension limit condition, the controller discards HARQ buffer data. The controller discontinues suspension in order not to monitor retransmission grant.
