The protection device has a protective element (1) made of ceramic, steel or steel alloy such as an alloy of steel and manganese, which prevents the formation of opening in a region of the wing frame (2) of the window or door, from the fitting side (10). The protective element is arranged inside the wing frame or on the application side (11) of the frame, such that a portion of the frame is provided in the operating portion of a handle (6) of the closure device on the application side of the frame. An independent claim is included for method of securing windows and doors against drilling.
