The method involves inserting an electric discharge machining electrode (20) in an inner side of a barrel of a cylinder casing (80), where a surface of the barrel is subjected to rough honing and plate honing before and after being honed by sinker electric discharge machining, respectively, and the electrode comprises a profile obtained by machining using a cutting tool. Electric discharge is initiated between the electrode and the surface of the barrel. The electrode is displaced in axial translation along an axis of the barrel.
