SYNTHESIS METHOD OF SUGAR NUCLEOTIDE USING YEAST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for synthesizing, in yeast cells, GDP sugar compound of GDP-L-Fuc or L-Fuc analogue.

SOLUTION: There is provided a transformant yeast introduced with L-fucokinase/GDP-L-fucose pyrophosphorylase (FKP) gene derived from B. fragilis or the like and transplanted through a salvage route. Further, an efficient method for synthesizing GDP sugar compound of L-Fuc analogue such as GDP-L-Fuc or GDP-D-Ara, using the yeast is provided.
