<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically recognize a character string with an identification number given to the outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical container and to automatically determine an appearance abnormality such as a printing failure and label peel off. <P>SOLUTION: A method for inspecting an identification number for recognizing an identification number 7 consisting of a plurality of characters given to the outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical container 1, has: a first step of photographing the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical container 1 which rotates on a turn table 5 to read a specific mark; a second step of photographing the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical container 1 by using the specific mark as a reference position for the predetermined number of frames; a third step of extracting a photographed image with the number of frames equivalent to width for one character from the photographed image with the predetermined number of frames photographed in the second step; a fourth step of extracting a photographed image with frames at the center position from the photographed image with the number of frames equivalent to the width for one character, extracted in the third step to perform character recognition; and a fifth step of repeating the second to fourth steps for predetermined frequencies by changing a reading condition when an error is generated in the character recognition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
