<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of providing packet filtering of a system-on-chip board, and a packet filtering method. <P>SOLUTION: A device comprises: a chip including a first storage section for storing a rule DB for packet filtering and a firewall engine for allowing or blocking transmission of a packet based on the rule DB; and a rule converter receiving the rule for packet filtering from a user and converting the rule into a mode for storage in a rule list.
