The reversible coating material nozzle (20) for a spray gun (1) can be fitted in a nozzle holder (9) of the spray gun (1) in two fitting positions and comprises a nozzle core (23) and a nozzle nipple (22). Additionally provided is a nozzle channel (26) which extends through the nozzle nipple (22) and the nozzle core (23) and connects the nozzle nipple opening (25) to the nozzle core opening (24). The nozzle nipple (22; 32) has a cylindrical portion (22.4; 32.4) which, in the first fitting position, forms a positive connection with the nozzle holder (9) of the spray gun (1). A stop (21.7; 32.7) is also provided. The ratio between the length (L) from the stop (21.7; 32.7) to the cylindrical portion (22.4; 32.4) and the nozzle diameter (D) is in the range of between 0.75 and 2.00.
