The simulator (1) has a pneumatically working piston cylinder unit (3) fastened to a supporting component or an aggregate of a vehicle. A piston (4) of the piston cylinder unit is operatively connected with suspended vehicle brake pedals (2) by a piston rod (12), where braking torque of the pedals is modulated by electro-hydraulic or electro-mechanical systems. The piston rod is spring-loaded against a compression direction (6) of the piston and formed by multiple piston rod sections (12a, 12b), where the sections are telescoped into each other during operation of the pedals.
