<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp device capable of achieving high startability and high re-startability. <P>SOLUTION: A discharge lamp device comprises: a discharge lamp provided with a discharge vessel having sealing parts at both ends; and an auxiliary light source having at least one external electrode on an outer face of an auxiliary discharge vessel in which a discharge medium is sealed. The discharge lamp device is configured such that light from the auxiliary light source passes through one of the sealing parts of the discharge lamp and guided into the discharge vessel of the discharge lamp. A material forming the auxiliary discharge vessel of the auxiliary light source is continuous with a material forming the one of the sealing parts in a borderless manner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
